Each month Maturn will be highlighting a current member of the Maturn community who is growing both their career and their family.

This month our highlighted member is: Megan Gradon

Company and Position:
Primary Care Paramedic with BC Emergency Health Services

Age of your kids :
I have a 22-month-old boy.

How has Motherhood grown you as a leader?
Motherhood has grown me as a leader by showing me, my inner voice of sticking up for my beliefs, values and doing the same for others who may not be able to. It has also ignited a creative side (something about creating life gives you this boost) which I think is always helpful when trying to further your career and to be a good leader.

What are some unique challenges you have faced in growing your career and your family
My wife and I are in very male dominated careers and although that is drastically changing we always feel the need to work harder for the positions we are going for. Some challenges I have faced growing my career with my family is softening the inner voice that says I need to be doing more in the home. And asking for more help when it comes to domestic tasks.

Do you have any thoughts or quotes for other mothers who are growing their careers and their families?
There is no doubt that motherhood changes you. Be sure to do some inner work and see what you still want out of your career and family life and then don’t let anything stop you.

Which Maturn program you are participating in?
I’m participating in the Motherhood Leadership Coaching Program
